History
Short history of the Faculty
Important events and dates:
- 1816 Establishing the Institute of Agronomy in Marymont.
- 1818 The Special School of Forestry is opened. It was the first forest school educating at the university level in Poland and one of the few such institutions in the world.
- 1831 The School is closed by the tzar.
- 1840 The Institute of Agr onomy in Marymont is transformed into the Institute of Agriculture and Forestry.
- 1869 The Institute of Agriculture and Forestry is moved to Pulawy.
- 1916 The Higher Courses of Forestry are initiated within the Agricultural College.
- 1918 The Agricultural College and the Higher Courses of Forestry are integrated into the Polish Royal School of Agriculture.
- 1919 The Polish Royal School of Agriculture is transformed into the Warsaw Agricultural University. Initially, it consists of the two faculties: Forestry and Agriculture.
Presently, there are over 1030 students being taught at the Faculty of Forestry within the following courses: full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate studies, postgraduate and doctoral studies. The following specializations are provided: natural foundations of forestry, forest protection and ecology, silviculture, forest management and forest geodesy, forest utilisatio n and engineering, wildlife management, forest economics, and applications of spatial information systems in forestry.
